Shouldve moved here years ago! Having worked in the area for the past 10 years in the real estate industry, I've had my fair share of experiences. The truth is, Unanderra has elevated itself in leaps and bounds as an overall suburb throughout my time here. So much so, I surprised myself and took the plunge by purchasing a home in the area a few years ago and another recently - that's how much I have enjoyed my time here!

Couple this with a large supermarket Woolworths and smaller boutique stores, local private schooling St. There is also an industrial area that provides many of your larger type services such as auto care, storage, various trades. Considering all of the local amenities and the beauty of the mountain views along with a variety of cultures and housing, this area is definitely one of my favourites!!! For me its simple, Unanderra and surrounding suburbs are a great place for people wanting community spirt and a family friendly location.

Make sure you grab a coffee from the country grocer if your near by! We have lived here 6 years and seen some great changes in not only renovations and knockdown rebuilds but in the local shopping facilities like Woolworths and local retail.

This area has good size blocks and is so close to everything including Wollongong and the beaches. Im so glad we bought here and got out of Sydney and found a nice area to bring up the kids. Talk about value for money. We were in two minds before moving here as we had heard some negative remarks about Unanderra but we really love it here. Our neighbours are very friendly, it is lovely and quiet and everything is nice and close. A rare surviving element of railway building groups representing the transport, historical theme" McPhee, The Unanderra Community Hall was opened in The Unanderra Branch Library opened in one room of the building in October , and was extended in The building currently continues to house the public library and community centre.

The Unanderra Community Hall is a two-storey brick building with a parapet and a single-storey brick section with a corrugated metal roof. Early records show that Unanderra was noted for its many cabbage tree palms. Vegetation in the area was originally cleared for rural land use in the mid 19th century and by the mid 20th century virtually all of the cabbage tree palms had been eliminated.

Charcoal Creek forms on the eastern face of Mount Kembla and flows into Allans creek. Warm temperate and sub-tropical rainforest once grew along the banks of the creek.

All that is left today are a few remnants of this former splendour with weeds such as Cape Ivy, Moth Vine, and Crofton weed growing in abundance.

Regeneration projects have resulted in the replanting of species such as Blackwood, Native Peach and Bastard Rosewood after the careful elimination of the weeds. An unnamed watercourse runs through the reserve, dividing it into north and south sections. The recent revegetation of Todd Park Reserve has restored the park into a lush rainforest.
